Do you have Entrepreneurial Aspirations?

Updated: Jun 11

Have you dreamed of owning your own business, being your own boss?

The best way to start a business depends on the type of business you want and your individual situation.

Ideal side hustles are numerous but depend on the time you can invest, the network you wish to build, the resources and talent you can contribute to. One thing for sure, you’ll need a Plan.

To hop on this exciting ride, here are few steps to get you started and focused on the Plan:

1. Business idea

Spend time exploring the right idea before jumping in. Grab a pencil and paper and make sure the eraser is not too far away! You will need imagination, lots of learning, conversations with various potential stakeholders, a good challenge mechanism and persistence.

Make sure the idea aligns to a certain degree to things you are passionate about. As they say, if you do something you love you don't have to work a day in your life!

2. Can you partner up?

Going solo can mean a lot of work and running in all kinds of directions but also means you are in charge and will be making all the decisions. On the other hand, having a co-founder you don't get along with can be a nightmare. An actual divorce might be easier then getting rid of your co-founder! be careful about what legal agreements you sign.

3. Take a test, assess yourself

What are you good at, what do you need to learn? Identify your unique competitive advantage. What do you have to offer the world?

4. Formulate your offering

Build your business plan. It doesn't have to be fancy at first but get the basics right, including your feasibility, the market you plan on operating in, the competitor landscape, who will be your customers, how do plan on delivering your goods / services. Don't forget some basic finances and articulate how you plan of making the business profitable.

5. Join a community of entrepreneurs
